New Benjamin Harrison Tree Dedicated in 2008
President Benjamin Harrison, 23rd president of the United States, was in Richmond in 1895 doing law work for a local trial. While in the community, local city fathers invited him to take part in the planting of a white ash tree in Glen Miller Park. On June 6, 2008 his great-grandson, Dr. Benjamin Harrison Walker visited the community to help plant a new tulip tree near the original ash tree. The tulip tree is the Indiana state tree.
