Board Meeting Minutes - May 15, 2014

Call to Order:

President Jenie Lahmann called the meeting to order at 12:05 pm in the Commissioners Conference in the Wayne County Annex Building.

The meeting minutes from the March 20, 2014 meeting were reviewed. Mr. Burton motioned acceptance, seconded by Randy Baker and the motion passed.

Old Business:

The balance sheet was distributed and discussed, showing financials for the previous two months. Mrs. Holman noted a platinum membership that recently paid in April. There were no further questions regarding the financial report and Pam Merchanthouse motioned acceptance, seconded by Richard Peterson and the motion passed unanimously.

Mrs. Holman took a moment to review membership fees, calling attention to those in arrears and those that have been removed from membership status due to non-payment. Total loss of revenue due to memberships is $1,100, however, we received $612 from other revenue sources, mainly photography revenue.

Executive Director's Report:

Jane Holman delivered the Executive Director's Report and said taping for Wayne County Connections continues, and we recently taped a segment on the Richmond Shakespeare Festival. Taping will take place again tomorrow, with Sandy House, Chairman of the 4-H Fair. Mrs. Holman recently attended the Boost 2.0 conference and also spent some time walking several community members through the calendar and Talk of the Town pages. Mrs. Holman reviewed technical issues that she has addressed and fixed and was able to remove "reviews" from the Facebook page, as they were not reviews of WayNet, but inappropriate comments that found their way to the WayNet page.

She added new sections for Tennis, Gymnastics and Horseback riding.

Mrs. Holman reviewed the stats and quarterly figures, and said number of users remains steady. She reported that not much is happening in web design assistance, and is trying to make contact with Web Canopy.

Mrs. Holman mentioned memberships are down, so we need to think about gaining more members. Mrs. Lahmann asked for a discussion on the matter and what action had been taken in the past, including a letter to the editor pointing out the benefits of WayNet. Mr. Peterson asked about an e-mail newsletter blast, and Mrs. Holman said she has tried that a few years ago. Mrs. Lahmann suggested a catch up-e-mail blast. Mr. Burton asked about statistics on our largest employers and suggests we review the list, and do some direct outreach to those businesses that do not currently belong to Waynet.

Mrs. Holman said traditionally, local manufacturers were not interested in WayNet, but agreed the employee page is helpful and could use that slant to entice manufacturers to consider joining WayNet. Mr. Burton suggested offering current membership information and levels to share with prospective members, thinking it may aid in the selling process. Mrs. Lahmann suggested a presentation at the Indiana Human Resource Association meeting to bring WayNet to the attention of local human resource professionals.

Adjournment:

Being no further business, Mr. Burton motioned to adjourn the meeting, seconded by Richard Peterson and the meeting adjourned at 12:42 p.m.
