The Wayne County Historical Museum has an amazing, unique collection of artifacts.  So much so that Jim Harlan, Executive Director of the Wayne County Historical Museum, expressed his opinion in the Palladium-Item on February 15, 2010, that Wayne County should be called the "Crossroads of American History".

Jim noted "due to its (Wayne County, Indiana) very unique location in history. U.S. 40 (National Road) and U.S. 27 (Underground Railroad) are both Historical Highways. We are located smack dab in the middle of the historical development of our nation. With the pioneers moving from the East to the West and many migrations of the people moving from the South to the North, they passed through and many stayed in Wayne County. Many American families can trace some of their genealogical history to our area."
