Board Meeting Minutes - October 24, 2019

Present:

  • Lynn Knight, (Earlham College)
  • Richard Peterson (Porter Advertising, LLC)
  • Jane Holman (Executive Director, WayNet.org, Ex-Officio), via phone

Absent:

  • Pam Merchanthouse, Vice President/Treasurer (Friends Fellowship Community)
  • Rob Tidrow, Secretary (Richmond Community Schools)

Call to Order:

President Jenie Lahmann called the meeting to order in the Neighborhood Services Conference Room of the Richmond Municipal Building at 12:03 p.m.

Old Business

Reviewed the minutes from April 18, 2019 and September 19, 2019, board meeting. Dakota Collins moved to accept the minutes and Kate Kotan seconded the motion.

New Business

Balance Sheet Review

The balance sheet was reviewed. Jane noted that last month there was quite a bit of billing and that we have a two month credit with Adobe for September and October. Richard Peterson moved to accept the balance sheet and Tim Love, seconded that motion.

Director's Report

Jane Holman shared that she has been busy with fall photo's, working on calendars since our last meeting.

Jane shared information on the parent/child memberships. The board went over the information and moved that: ESR, Bethany, Forward Wayne County and the Health Department be handled as separate organizations.

Budget

The board looked at the projected yearly budget for Waynet, Inc for 2020. All agreed that the projected yearly budget will be discussed fully at next months meeting.

Jane will present a projected end of the year budget with the Board prior to next month's meeting.

In looking at the projected budget for 2020 it was agreed that we should look at a computer upgrade. Tim Love offered to get a quote from Summit and bring it to the next meeting.

The projected yearly budget noted donations. It was agreed that something special should be done for our donors at the end of this fiscal year.

In a previous meeting Kate Kotan offered to with feedback from a financial workshop she attended. Kate will share that information with Jane prior to the next meeting. At the next meeting she will share information from the financial workshop she attended and shared with Jane.

Mission Statement Review

After a lively and lengthy discussion agreed on the new Mission Statement and the new Vision for Waynet:

Mission Statement:

To serve as our community's resource for complete and positive information that inspires engagement, awareness and celebration.

Vision Statement:

Build and support an energized and positive community.

Kate Kotan moved to accept the new Mission Statement and the new Vision Statement. Tim Love seconded the motion.

Adjournment:

With no further business to discuss, Jenie Lehmann asked for the meeting to be adjourned. 1:32 p.m.
