Riverside Trail - New Section Opened in 2007

A new section of the Riverside Trail, a S.P.U.R. project, has opened from the 17th Street Trailhead to 24th Street. This is the area that was once covered by Morton Lake.

The newly opened section of the trail travels between the former Morton Lake Bridge and Dam east to 24th Street. The dam was blasted and destroyed in 1952 to help alleviate flooding in the area.
