Earlham College Observatory

If you've attended an event in Goddard Auditorium in Carpenter Hall or the Richmond Room in the Landrum Bolling building on the Earlham Campus, you have likely wondered about this small observatory building.

Built in 1861, this observatory was the first college observatory in Indiana. Its 1856 telescope was in active use until the 1960s. In 2002, a new observatory was built on Earlham's back campus.
